Twitter appeared to be experiencing a significant outage early Wednesday, as thousands of users reported outages. starts around 5:15 am ETaccording to site outage tracker Downdetector.

Other users reported received a “Welcome to Twitter” message, which new Twitter users often see when they first visit the site.
“Welcome to Twitter!” the message, captured in screenshots, is read. “This is the best place to see what’s happening in your world. Find some people and topics to follow today.”
Some experience difficulty refreshing their Twitter feeds – and rightly so meeting the message: “Tweets are not loading now. Try again.”

However, it appears that it is possible for new users to post new tweets. It is also possible to see specific users’ tweets by going to individual account pages, The Independent reported.
USA TODAY reached out to Twitter for comment Wednesday morning.

Wednesday’s outage comes after reports of the latest round of Twitter outages. The New York Times reported that Twitter laid off 200 employees — or about 10% or the rest of the company’s workforce — Saturday night.
Thousands of Twitter employees have been laid off in the months following Elon Musk’s October purchase of the company. Tuesday’s layoffs bring the company’s workforce to under 2,000 employees, down from 7,500 before Musk’s hiring.
It was unclear whether Wednesday’s breakdown was connected to the latest job cuts.
Twitter outages more common: Report
Twitter losses also appear to be increasing.
For the month of February alone, Twitter experienced at least four significant outages – compared to a total of nine outages in 2022 – the New York Times reported on Tuesday, citing data from internet outages tracker NetBlocks.
