No Phone 2 Coming To US With Snapdragon 8

Nothing to see here — just news that a second phone from UK-based tech startup None is coming soon. the No Phone 2 will be a more high-end product than its predecessor and will pack the latest The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen. And yes, it is available in the US.

Unlike almost every Android phone-maker you can name, None has no official presence this year at Mobile World Congress. But the biggest phone show in the world, which started on Monday in Barcelona, has a surprise announcement from the Left.

The company piggybacked on the stance of its chipset partner Qualcomm to make a late-day statement on Tuesday about the much-anticipated new handset. The other day, Nothing founder Carl Pei tweeted that “there is a stance at MWC that doesn’t fit our vibe.”

The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset is Qualcomm’s flagship mobile processor this year, with improved AI features for photography, more reliable 5G connectivity and even ray tracing to create more real-to- living reflections and shadows of games. The chip is likely to appear in many high-end Android phones this year; a modified version activates the Samsung Galaxy S23, which launched earlier this month. Its inclusion lends the Nothing Phone 2 some mainstream credibility.

Pei brought years of experience working at OnePlus with him when he founded the tech brand None in 2020. His goal was to inject some fun and excitement back into the tech world. A big part of the company’s strategy is to create a different design language that combines transparent elements with built-in lights, which gives the No Phone 1 and the No Ears 1released in 2022 and 2021 respectively, an appearance that distinguishes them from almost all other technologies on the market today.

In his Phone Review 1, CNET’s Andrew Lanxon said he found it just as exciting to spend time with his hopeful. He liked the attractive, unique design and found it to be a solid performer at an affordable price. One of the downsides of the phone is that it was not available in the US upon release. The international model today available for $299 in the US as part of a beta programbut with limited carrier support.

That won’t be the case with the Phone 2, which will go on sale in the US, UK and Europe when it launches at an as-yet-unconfirmed date later this year. Prices are also TBC, but for context the Nothing Phone 1 is priced at £399 in the UK.
