Microsoft’s Windows Calendar app within Windows 11 seems to crash frequently after the latest update.
Microsoft began receiving reports of the Calendar app repeatedly crashing when it was opened from the Start menu or the Windows Mail app, to which it was linked. PiunikaWeb started compiling the reports on Tuesday afternoon.
This reporter also witnessed the same behavior: When you open the Calendar app from within Mail, the app loads a window header, then crashes. The app displays the same behavior when you load it from the Start menu, too. Others who reported the issue to Microsoft had the same problem. Microsoft advisors posting on the company’s support forums say Microsoft is aware of the issue, but there is no current fix in place.
Fortunately, there seems to be a solution. Users can use the Outlook app to access their integrated calendar, or otherwise access their email and calendar using Outlook for the Web. Microsoft also recommends logging out and resetting the Calendar app, but using the Outlook for the Web client instead seems less complicated and cumbersome.
Microsoft debuted its latest Windows 11 update this week, adding features like Bing Chat links inside the Start menu, along with some handy power recommendations to lower your power bill. energy and integrated screen recording within the Snipping Tool. Some of the updates include scheduled app updates as well as Windows; on our test machine, we saw the Mail & Calendar app update. While you can use Outlook, we consider Mail (and Calendar) a hidden gem within Windows.
