If you’re looking to buy a new MacBook Pro you don’t have to pay full price. Our team of Apple experts scours the web year-round for the best deals, offers and discounts for MacBook Pro – looking for the best deals with no money down to save you time.
Apple announced 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips in January 2023. This new MacBook Pro went on sale on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 and we’re already seeing discounts –Amazon in the US and KRCS in the UK both have cash (more details below), but we don’t expect to see big discounts on these models for a while.
In the meantime, however, you can get one of the older M1 Pro or M1 Mac MacBook Pro models launched in 2021 as retailers clear out stock. For example, you can save $400 off the original price of the 16-inch MacBook Pro at Amazon US and £450 off the original price of the 16-inch MacBook Pro at Amazon UK. US Apple has increased the prices for the new MacBook Pro range, which means that the prices of the older models will be more attractive.
In this article we also run through some tips and explain Apple’s pricing structure, so you can be sure you’re getting the best discount available.
Here we’re focused on the MacBook Pro, but there are some great deals for the MacBook Air as well. The MacBook Air and the 13in MacBook Pro have a lot in common, so you may also be interested in reading our MacBook Air deal article as well. Where to buy a MacBook Pro
There are limited stocks leading to some shipping delays, but you can find the MacBook Pro for sale in various locations. You can buy a MacBook Pro directly from Apple, or at stores and Apple Premium Resellers around the world – many of them offer discounts on new and used Macs, so it’s worth shopping around. You can find out where the MacBook Pro is in stock or read our Where to buy a Mac article for more advice.
One benefit of buying from Apple is that you can sell your old Mac and get cash. We have an article that explains How to get money using Apple’s trade-in program.
We recommend the following resellers in the US and UK:
US retailers
UK retailers
In addition, Apple has a number of Apple Premium Resellers in the UK that stock Macs and offer other services:
Best MacBook Pro refurbished deals
While Apple rarely discounts new Macs, every now and then there are some great deals to be had at Apple’s Refurbished Store. Macs in Apple’s refurbished store may be ex-display stock, or they may have been returned by Apple due to a fault, but they are now fully refurbished and come with a full year warranty. Read about buying a refurbished Mac. Not only does Apple sell refurbished Macs, but Apple offers many great incentives to buy from Apple’s Refurbished Store, so we recommend looking there for great MacBook Pro deals.
We often see the cheaper M1 MacBook Pro for sale at the refurbished store, which means you can get the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro Apple M1 Chip with 8-Core CPU and 8-Core GPU with 256GB SSD for less which is £1,099 / $1,099. A saving of £200/$200.
There are always deals for refurbished MacBook Pros – but they tend to sell out quickly so we recommend you check regularly. Most of the deals we’ve seen are for Intel-powered models rather than M1 or M2-series Macs. In the UK see this page and the US Refurb Store page is here.
In the US:
- Apple Refurb: M1 13-inch MacBook Pro, 8-core GPU, 256GB: $1,059 (£190 off)
- Apple Refurb: M2 13-inch MacBook Pro, 10-core GPU, 256GB: $1,169 (£130 off)
- Apple Refurb: M1 Pro, 14-inch MacBook Pro, 14-core GPU, 256GB: $1,539 (£360 off)
- Apple Refurb: M1 Pro, 14-inch MacBook Pro, 16-core GPU, 256GB: $1,929 (£470 off)
- Apple Refurb: M1 Pro, 16-inch MacBook Pro, 16-core GPU, 256GB: $1,929 (£370 off)
- Apple Refurb: M1 Pro, 16-inch MacBook Pro, 16-core GPU, 512GB: $2,079 (£420 off)
In the UK:
Amazon also has a certified refurbished store for Apple products but we advise against buying any products older than five years – most of the products we see in Amazon’s refurbished store are very old. Another place to look is BackMarket US and BackMarket UK, which sell refurbished Macs and other Apple products.
